Career readiness
Our undergraduate majors have the opportunity to participate in many different types of co-curricular experiences such as research, study abroad, internships, clubs and volunteer/service activities. Research activities are under the guidance of professors, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students where students engage in creating new knowledge through cutting edge research. Students have the opportunity to serve as teaching assistants, gaining valuable experience in instruction and supervision. Oregon State University offers the only Microbiology degree in Oregon for both undergraduate and graduate degrees. A degree in Microbiology fulfills all the requirements for medical school. Some additional courses are required for dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant programs, nursing and veterinary science.
