Microbiology graduates Hayden Krause and Nilanjana Das have recently received awards at the Oregon Chapter of the American Fisheries Society annual conference in Bend, Oregon. There were 450 attendees, including 35 students, in attendance.

Krause received the Gerald R. Bouck Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship honors the legacy of Dr. Gerald R. Bouck, an AFS Life Member who served as President of the Western Division of AFS and the Bioengineering Section and made significant contributions to fisheries science. The scholarship is open to "graduate students pursuing a career in fisheries research relevant to fish physiology, water quality, toxicology, bio-engineering or fish culture".

Nilanjana Das was honored with the Runner-Up Best Student Paper Award for her presentation titled "The Emergence of Proliferative Kidney Disease in an Oregon Salmonid Hatchery". The research presentation was a collaboration between Das and ODFW.

Congratulations to Hayden and Nilanjana!
