Research

Currently the bacteria Mycobacterium Abscessus is being studied with an emphasis on biofilms and quorum sensing. Biofilms are a collective of microorganisms that have coalesced into a fortified matrix on surfaces to resist unfavorable environmental factors such as flowing water, lack of nutrients, and or bactericidal compounds. By studying biofilms and quorom sensing, the method whereby bacteria communicate with one another, the fashion whereby biofilms and by extension infections spread is being researched.
