Waiving Pre-Req or Co-Req Override

I do not meet the course restrictions but am asking for an exception to be able to register.

MB and BHS courses have a strict policy on “waiving” course requirements. The department does not approve pre-requisite overrides, as the pre-requisites have been deemed essential to be successful in the course. Class level, major, and minor restrictions are not waived on a student by student basis. Capacity Override

I would like entry into a MB or BHS course that is full.

The Department of Microbiology (MB & BHS courses) provides a form for students to be able to communicate a degree progression or graduation need for a course. In some cases this is paired with the OSU waitlist procedures.

Step 1: Register for the waitlist (if there is no waitlist or waitlist is full skip this step)
Step 2: Complete the Request for Access to Full Course Form
Step 3: Connect with your academic advisor to discuss possible adjustments. Waitlisting a course and completing this form does not guarantee a seat in the course. Contact your academic advisor to discuss possible adjustments to your plan to complete your requirements. Often, there are adjustments you can make to your plan that will not impact your degree timeline.
Step 4: Monitor your OSU Email for response to your request. Requests are reviewed each Tuesday Week 9, 10, 11, and the Thursday after finals week.

The afternoon of Thursday after Finals Week, March 26th, courses will shift to OSU traditional waitlist procedures, with exception to MB 303 - see MB 303 note below. Petitions for entry or requests for waitlist priority will not be considered after Wednesday March 25th @ 5pm (PST). If you are seeking entry into a full course after March 26th must follow the waitlist process.

For Spring 2026 - MB 303 will consider seats only by the Capacity Override Petition until the Monday March 30th at 8am (Pacific Time.)

Ecampus Early Access Override

I am a Corvallis campus student and wish to request access to be eligible to register during the Ecampus Student Only registration window.

Note if you are seeking access to register during Week 8 & 9 into an ecampus course because the on-campus section is full - this is not the proper form. Take these two steps instead. Fill out the Capacity Override request (above) for the on-campus section (above) AND try and register for the ecampus section when the BHS and MB Ecampus courses open to Corvallis campus students in Week 10.

By making this request students are asking to be allowed to register during a time that is reserved only for students who are actively enrolled as Ecampus students. As such requests will need to meet a specific set of criteria set forth by OSU registrar to be approved. Examples include:

International exchange/study abroad.
Active service members/veteran students who need access to an Ecampus section due to deployment, are currently out of state, or otherwise unable to attend Corvallis courses.
Next term is a student’s final term and the course is only offered online.
Student is graduating in the next 2-3 terms and the course is only offered in the upcoming term online, with no projected viable course offering in the terms prior to graduation.
Student is graduating in next 2-3 terms, and the requested course is a key pre-requisite for a course in the final term or two, of which there is no on-campus option

Requests based on preference of faculty, format, and/or work schedules will not be approved for access during the Ecampus Student only registration window. Students will need to wait to register for the Ecampus section when the BHS and MB Ecampus courses open to Corvallis campus students Monday Week 10 @ 6am (PST)
