The Isolation Laboratory/Quarantine is a separate building inside the facility fence with a keyed entrance. It provides an ideal area to work with non-endemic aquatic organisms/pathogens and/or prevent cross contamination of a particularly virulent pathogen to other animals in the facility. This isolated wet-lab has over 300 square feet of climate-controlled space available, shelves and racks for tubs holding animals, twenty-four 25 liter flow through tanks and a separate necropsy room.
Designated nets and equipment are provided and decontaminated separately. A foot bath of disinfectant is provided for foot traffic between areas. Effluent can be controlled as there is only one effluent pipe from the room. Effluent is treated with UV, Chlorine or other appropriate method as needed.
This entire space can be obtained exclusively by researchers or on a tank by tank basis. Refer to our rates for details on tank rental or contact Ruth Milston-Clements or Dr Jerri Bartholomew to discuss your project needs.
